Confidentiality
Policy
It is the policy of Kids 1st to uphold the strictest of confidentiality in every aspect of the service provided. Confidentiality, in this context, is defined as “the basic and ongoing anonymity of clients and client families in reference to the treatment provided by Kids 1st.” Simply stated, the children and families we serve will be served in a manner of the utmost privacy and lowest profile possible, in all areas of the provision of the services, including but not limited to verbal interaction, written correspondence and agreements, and electronic communication. In every event possible, the child and family’s name will be limited to last name, first initial, or first name, last initial, or simply by first or last name. A client file will be kept at all times, either in the private possession of the actual service providing staff member or in the control of Kids 1st in a locked filing cabinet in a private area used exclusively for storage of client files. When in possession of the service-providing staff member, the file and the paperwork therein will be kept where the name on the file is not apparent to anyone outside the Kids 1st Organization. The only information shared with another party shall be done so after a release of information has been signed for stated party. The decision of the parties who will be given releases of information to sign will be done so in the best interest of the child, the best interest of the family. Finally, the information which should be treated in the above-mentioned manner is defined as, “All material and information, regardless of form, medium or method of communication provided to the contractor by or on behalf of the agency or acquired by the contractor on behalf of the agency shall be regarded as confidential information.” |
